Support for ARFID that feels gentle, structured, and actually doable
If food feels overwhelming, limited, stressful, or exhausting, you are not alone. We help kids, teens, adults, and parents build more comfort, flexibility, and confidence with food in a way that feels supportive, practical, and sustainable.
You might be here because food feels way harder than it should
Maybe there is a very limited list of safe foods. Maybe trying something new feels overwhelming. Maybe meals feel stressful, frustrating, or emotionally exhausting. Maybe you or your child have been told to just keep trying, and it has not actually helped.
What is ARFID?
ARFID stands for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. It can show up as a very limited variety of foods, strong sensory aversions, fear around trying new foods, low appetite, or stress related to eating.
ARFID is more than just picky eating. It can affect nutrition, growth, energy, social experiences, family dynamics, and overall quality of life.
The good news is that there is a path forward, and it does not have to involve force, pressure, or shame.
Common signs of ARFID
- Very limited safe foods
- Strong texture, smell, taste, or appearance aversions
- Anxiety around trying new foods
- Fear of gagging, vomiting, choking, or discomfort
- Skipping meals or eating very small amounts
- Stress around restaurants, travel, school lunch, or social eating
Our approach to ARFID support
We do not force food. We do not shame. We do not throw you into overwhelming exposures before you are ready. We take a gentle, step-by-step approach that helps food feel more manageable over time.
Food exposures
We help clients practice food exposures in a way that feels safe, structured, and genuinely doable.
Food chaining
We build from foods that already feel easier or more familiar and use those foods as a bridge toward foods that feel harder.
Nervous system support
Food stress is real. We pay attention to anxiety, sensory overwhelm, shutdown, and capacity because all of that matters.
Nutrition support
We support nutrition needs alongside exposure work so the goal is not just trying foods, but helping eating feel more sustainable.
Parent guidance
We help parents feel less overwhelmed and more confident in how to support their child through food challenges.
Real life strategy
We work through the actual sticking points like family meals, restaurants, school, travel, and staying consistent without burning out.
